Come an join us to see the first 2025 production of The Mount Players who are an established, and very good amateur dramatics group in Mount Macedon.
The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde is widely regarded as one of the best theatrical comedies ever written. It is full of farce, dazzling wordplay and hilariously unlikely situations, and has delighted audiences across the world.
The play is about Jack and Algy, very close friends who live double lives. In the country they are respectable gentlemen but in the city they are playboys without a care in the world.
Their absurdly lavish lifestyle is rudely interrupted when love enters the mix, and the pair struggle to keep track of who they are pretending to be and when.
For those interested we meet at 12 noon to have lunch at the Macedon Hotel Pub at 694 Mount Macedon Road, Mount Macedon.
Then we leave around 1.30pm for the Mountview theatre to join the others to enjoy free sherries and collect our tickets before the production starts at 2.00pm.
Sunbury U3A have been attending plays by The Mount Players for over five years, enjoying the production and each other company.
It is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon whilst travelling through the Macedon Ranges which are always beautiful and so close to Sunbury.
