Woodlands Historic homestead was constructed in 1840 by the Green family who emigrated to Australia. At that time it was 640 acres but now it is the Woodlands Historic Park which encompasses 1500 acres which includes the homestead and outbuildings giving the visitor a glimpse into the past. Since the Green’s and subsequent owners of the homestead were heavily involved in thoroughbred racing, history continued when Living Legends, a retirement home for champion racehorses was established at the homestead. There are 34 resident horses many well known Melbourne Cup winners
Andrew Clarke is our Guest Speaker. He is a vet and CEO of Woodlands Historic Park. He will talk with us about his work, about how the International Home of Rest for Champion Horses (Living Legends) came into being, with an update on the conservation of Woodlands Homestead, the outbuildings and heritage gardens.
