Sergeant Duncan Browne has been a policeman for 28 years. He is currently working in the Transit Divisional Response Unit where he is responsible for the detection, apprehension and prosecution of graffiti offenders. His talk is titled -The Rise of Graffiti and the Challenges for Law Enforcement. The talk will examine the different aspects of the graffiti culture, including offender motivations. Then learn how the police respond, investigate and apprehend the offenders in an attempt to eliminate such a costly crime which impacts on us all..

Come and be amazed by the different styles of graffiti. Some beautiful works of art, other which are not. Learn all about the cat and mouse struggle of the police force and how they scrutinise the graffiti in order to name the offenders and the long and sometimes tedious battle to get these offenders prosecuted. The talk will challenge not only your values but also your perception of the law and society at large.
