First Sunday Train Trip No.2
Tutor/Leader: Jenny Turner
Location: Sunbury Station
Frequency: Monthly
Day: Sunday 9:55 am – 4:00pm
Dates: 3 March 2024
Numbers: 18
Let’s explore Melbourne and surrounds via public transport on a Sunday.
Pack a picnic lunch and we can buy coffee and ice creams along the way and enjoy the sights, the journey and each others company….. Our first outing will be to Seaholme.
We meet at Sunbury Station at 9.55am to catch the 10.10am to Footscray Station where we change trains. This will involve 2 train changes of about 1 and half hours travelling and finally arriving at Seaholme.
We shall then walk approximately 20 minutes along the bay under the old pine trees on the esplanade (plenty of shade) up to Altona pier.
Altona pier has just undergone a huge redevelopment, part of the $24 million Piers and Jetties stimulus package so it will be interesting to see how our money has been spent!
There is a beautiful park on the corner for us to have our picnic lunch under the Moreton bay figs. Also heaps of coffee & ice-cream shops.
Who knows maybe a paddle on the beach and a spot of window shopping in Altona. Home via Altona station.
Suggest you wear your walking shoes, bring a hat and sunscreen and don’t forget a water bottle. You will need to bring your MYKI card as even though travel for seniors on the weekend is free, you still need to swipe on and off.
Dates set for Train Outing are 3/3/24, 5/5/24, 2/6/24,
7/7/24, 4/8/24, 1/9/24, 3/11/24, 1/12/24
