Prerequisites: Hammer, a magnifying glass or geologists/jeweller’s eyepiece.
How the Earth came about and a close look at the terrain and rocks around us.
A look at those geological activities that shaped the Earth and the continents, paying particular attention to Australia.
We will look at the big picture of what Australia is made of and where it came from; before moving into rocks, gems and minerals.
The course will include those items the participants have in their own collections.
We will cover the precious minerals we have in Australia gold, silver, opal and the raw minerals copper, Zinc, coal etc.
We will also look at fossils which are key to understanding how the geology of different eras and regions are formed.
The course will combine optional day field trips scheduled to suit the majority of the participants.
