Nov 7th – Guest Speaker – Ross Skiffington

Ross Skiffington is both a talented entertainer and a magician extraordinaire. He trained as an actor and has appeared in several television programmes including Cop Shop, The Sullivans and Holiday Island.  In addition Ross performed as an illusionist on many television productions including The Mike Walsh Show, The Bert Newton Show and The Ray Martin Show.  He has also worked in theatrical productions, with the Bell Shakespeare Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company

Ross’ career has led him into a wide variety of entertainment and he is sure to be a most interesting and intriguing speaker.  As well as mystifying us with a variety of magical tricks, he will talk of the history of magic and about Harry Houdini, the illusionist who completed the first controlled, sustained aeroplane flight in Australia.

During his career Ross has received two lifetime achievement awards – in 2000 he received an award at the Australian Society of Magicians Convention and in 2006 from Magic New Zealand.   The former award was for Ross’ “contribution to the art of magic” and the 2006 award was for “for a lifetime dedicated to the magical arts”.   (Ref: Wikipedia.)
