The Huffers and Puffers Brass Band was formed in Melbourne about 20 years ago by retirees who had played for many years in various brass bands in the Greater Melbourne area.
The group now comprises about 25 players who give their time to entertaining a wide range of community organisations with 1 – 2 hour recitals. The band’s repertoire includes popular melodies, sing-along tunes, and, of course, marches. Funds received from host organisations are accumulated and applied to selected worthwhile charity projects. Alan Porter’s recent talk on brass band music may have whetted your interest and you will be in for a treat at our U3A Thursday morning meeting on Thursday, 10 October.
