Outing – Winter Masterpieces at the Gallery – Terracotta Warriors

Sadly, due to disruptions to our railway system, this outing has to be cancelled.

In a dual presentation of Chinese art and culture past and present, the National Gallery of Victoria will present China’s ancient Terracotta Warriors alongside a display of new works by one of the world’s most exciting contemporary artists, Cai Guo-Qiang.

We will meet at Sunbury station at 10.00am to catch the Metro 10.10am train to Flinders Street. On to the NGV (pay to enter – ticket price $25.00) to view the art of Cai Guo-Qiang. We will lunch at the Italian restaurant La Camera in Southbank, where we can sit on the verandah and leisurely eat , drink and watch the world go by. Meals are $15.00 without a drink or $20.00 with a glass of wine.

We should finish our meal at approximately 1.15pm  and return to the Gallery for a leisurely coffee which will give those members who want to put their names down for the free hour guided tour of the Terracotta Warriors which starts at 2.30pm. For those not wanting to take the tour, you can access multimedia equipment for $8.00.

Return to Sunbury at your own leisure, without the rush of the peak trains –trains available at 4.16 and 4.30pm
