Sharing Shakespeare – 2nd & 4th Tuesdays 10:00 – 11:30am in the Boardroom at the Sunbury Football Social Club. Together we read or listen to a reading of a Shakespeare play, stopping along the way to discuss meaning, characters, vocabulary, plots, settings and themes.
We use second-hand books that we’ve acquired from second hand book shops or op shops. We’ve found that study text books on the plays are very helpful, as they include descriptive notes and discussion points.
So far, we’ve read Macbeth and Taming of the Shrew and we’re currently reading Richard III.
It has been enjoyable for our small group to listen to an audio version of the play while we follow it in our books. We stop the audio regularly to discuss what has happened. Everyone tries to decipher and interpret with much discussion. We are making great progress as well as learning so much about history and the Bard’s amazing work! Group Leader: Kris
