Are you a local Senior, fairly comfortable using the internet, Google, Facebook, emails etc? Would you like to help other Seniors get more comfortable & safe using their smartphone or iPad or Tablet? We’d love you to Volunteer to help isolated Seniors in Sunbury become more “digitally literate”.
This course will teach you to help run small-group sessions on Zoom or mentor an individual to join into one of our beginners’ “Social Seniors” courses. You will not be alone, other volunteer ‘mentors’ will help you!
For more information please contact us via email on:
Content will include the ability to support a new learner registered for our “Social Seniors” course – i.e. how to connect to the internet & join a Zoom class, learn about the basics of their digital device, browse the internet and join a program in Be Connected, download the correct ‘apps’ for their device (including the simple video editor ‘Filmorago’), receive & send emails & attachments, connect with people securely on social media, and make simple video stories in their interest area. (See our separate course outline for “Social Seniors” on Wednesdays.)
This course for Volunteers comprises 5 – 6 x 2 hour workshops over 3 weeks (Friday 1-3pm and Monday mornings 10-12noon) aimed at people with existing computer skills on modern digital devices. We will be using Zoom to conduct this course, using your own digital devices – internet-enabled iPad, Tablet, laptop or Smartphone. The course will be facilitated by U3A Network Victoria members including from our own club. It is free to members and non-members of U3A who are Seniors and from the Sunbury area, as part of a Hume Council-funded project for Seniors in the Sunbury area.
Commences on 8th or 15th February (to be confirmed), with no class on 8th March online via Zoom
