Please welcome Paul Millett as our Guest Speaker.
Today we are joined by Paul Millett who will not only talk about how generations of his family played a significant role in Sunbury’s history, but now, importantly how the family continues to impact on the areas future.
Long term residents of Sunbury talk about the cows been seen herded through the main street of Sunbury on their way to the dairy.
How much do you know about the history of the Millett family and their ancestry, beginning with George Millett, who at 13 years of age arrived in Australia to serve a 9 year sentence at Port Arthur, Tasmania for stealing a handkerchief?
With dreams of a better future George later comes to Melbourne and, in 1853 purchases 125 acres in Sunbury and builds the Bald Hill Hotel which is the first staging stop from Melbourne to the goldfields of Bendigo.
