In 1885 Melbourne philanthropists, including Brigadier William Bolton and Lady Jane Clarke, recognised the need for a domiciliary service that would provide nursing care to frail, sick and poor people in their own home. Thus Melbourne District Nursing was established and began life with one nurse visiting patients in the slums of inner Melbourne. In 1966 it became Royal District Nursing Service and more recently Bolton Clarke.
Come along and meet with Deb Williams who will tell us about the current services provided by Bolton Clarke which now includes a wide range of independent living options in your own home, retirement living and residential aged care.
This will be a very interesting session with historical content and up to the minute community care.
See you there.
