Marie’s story is one of courage and resilience. She is a remarkable young women. Accidently blinded as a baby, Marie was an Iranian refugee who travelled with her family to various countries in an attempt to escape persecution. Later with her grandmother she had to wait years until Australia changed her refugee status that allowed her to join her family who now lived in Australia. After 32 years of being totally dependent on her family and extended family her life truly started when she was accepted into The Victorian Institute of the Blind.
