Coach tour to Westgarth
Westgarth is an historic dairy farming settlement built in 1850 and established by German and Wendish immigrants. It is north of Melbourne located within the residential suburbs of Lalor and Thomastown in the Shire of Whittlesea. Whilst many of the old bluestone cottages are privately owned we can still visit Ziebell’s farmhouse, the cart shed both set in heritage gardens. Visit the Lutheran church which is the oldest Lutheran church in Victoria and the picturesque Lutheran Cemetery. Hear about the history of the community, their life, religion and their culture.
We meet at 9.15 in the carpark of Club Sunbury (Bowling Club) leaving at 9.30am to travel to Thomastown. The tour, refreshments and photo opportunities will take about 90 minutes. We then board the coach for a short drive to The Excelsior Hotel for lunch which has inexpensive Senior meals. We leave about 2.00 pm returning to Sunbury by 3.00pm $30.00 costs include coach fare and tour which is $5.00. All the money you need will be for your meal and for $2.50 for refreshments.
