Our Guest Speaker today is Jim Callahan.
Do you know that in Sub-Suharan, Africa there are only two physicians per 10,0000 people? Come along and meet Jim who is going to talk with us about Mercy Ships and the amazing work that is carried out by this important organisation. Most work is carried out by volunteers without whom the service would not function.
Mercy Ships is an international organisation that provides direct medical services and education to build healthcare systems that will meet the future needs of the local community, wherever that might be. Mercy Ships (Australia) are currently working in Sub-Saharan, Africa and across the Asian Pacific. In Sub-Sharan, Africa 50% of the population lives near the coast and the hospital ships are an excellent way to reach those people in need.
Jim will talk with us about the state-of-the art hospital ships and the services they are able to provide through this unique approach.
Make sure you do not miss this wonderful opportunity to learn about Mercy Ships and the significant effect that they have on the lives of so many disadvantaged people.
