An introduction to Geology, focusing primarily on Australia. We will look at the big picture of what Australia is made of and where it came from. Before moving quickly onto specific rocks, gems and minerals. The course will have a minor focus on those items the participants have in their own collections. From those we can work back to discus how they came about and investigate their location and Geological era

We will also look at fossils, the eras, the geology we find them in and how they are formed.

The course will involve a few field trips. These will be separate from the programmed times as they will be all day events. They will not be demanding or involve long distance walking, maybe 500 metres or so, and definitely no scrambling up steep hills. Not compulsory, but fun.
